Successful Training Tips
Even the most thorough and well thought out training plan will likely fail if the following key success factors are overlooked.
- Management clearly and consistently shares the benefits of "why we are doing this" and what’s in it for staff at all levels.
- Well-planned training program focusing on mortgages the way members look at things so that every employee gets some level of training/exposure to home ownership.
- Mortgage department role changes to one of service and support to members and to front-line staff.
- Establish "go to" expert(s). Provide readily available resources to answer questions when the front-line staff have a member question they cannot answer.
- Good communication and access to information. Information is a critical issue to the success of real estate lending in the branch network. Draw clear lines of responsibility and communication and establish good teamwork.
- Realize that applications generated by the front-line staff will never be as a clean as a person that has worked with them for many years. Assist them and build off of
their training.
- Rewards or incentives to recognize successes.
